WHAT HAPPENS TO ROVER WHEN THE MARRIAGE IS OVER? And Other Doggone Legal Dilemmas!
COMING SEPTEMBER 6, 2016 from SKYHORSE
If you read my first book, you know I was a pretty dumb new Dog Mom. As Sadie and I developed our relationship, I knew what I had learned was valuable to other new Pet Parents. My love for Sadie and my profession came together as I realized the legal problems dogs faced, often with tragic endings could be prevented with knowledge acquired before something happened. I knew I had to learn as much as I could about an area of law, that frankly I was clueless about….dog law. And so the beginning of my second book was born.
Rover is an overview for laypersons of the new legal landscape affecting pet parents and their four-legged companions—in particular, dogs. A book that offers more than just general legal tips. A conversational guide. One that not only addresses FAQs but provides real and effective DIY solutions to help to keep owners out of court and their pooch out of the pound.
Because while most owners know all about being in the Doghouse, what owners really need to know is what happens when they and their pooch are dragged into the Courthouse. Some of the issues discussed in the book can be found on blogs or elsewhere on the internet. But most owners go to blogs and the internet after something has happened and which often ends in tragedy. Dog owners’ knowledge of common laws in their area or where to find out about them is almost nonexistent.

THE DOG DIET
My first book, The Dog Diet is a hilarious memoir/lifestyle guide that chronicles the first year of my life with Sadie. It is about the positive impact a dog can have in lifting our spirits, lightening our hearts, and shrinking our waistlines.
I was a diet-obsessed, single lawyer, mourning the demise of my latest relationship, indulging in as many brands of chocolate as I could find. Fate-and a fortuitous trip to PetSmart brought rascally puppy Sadie into mypetless, pristine-if a bit sterile-life. Since that day life hasn’t been the same for me or for Sadie.
DOG DIET is most of all a love story of a woman who fell in love with a little homeless dog and in the process her body and her life got lighter, fuller, and she discovered it wasn’t what she had been eating, but what had been eating at her. Sadie brought unimagined joy, an appreciation for living in the moment, and a new purpose for life. DOG DIET won the MAXWELL AWARD from the Dog Writer’s Association, but it really belongs to Sadie.
Some practical dog diet tips include:
When it comes to snacking, if your dog likes it, it’s probably not good for you!
Eat quiet foods that don’t emit enticing aromas – they’re good for you and won’t arouse the ravished beast in your dog!
Sure you can walk your dog, but a traditional work out can be adapted to include your dog-you burn more calories and it’s a lot more fun!
Look at life through the eyes of your dog: Learn how to live in the moment and don’t hold grudges.
